Impact through clarity

Complex ideas are made clear through concise language and effective structure.

Do you know that most blogs and business articles have basic grammar and style issues that noticeably impact readability? That it takes a reader less than 30 seconds to judge an article’s quality? The content you publish - on your website, in your brochures, articles, papers and blogs - creates not just the first impression for your audience, but often the most lasting. Make sure it’s a good one!

I have twenty years experience writing and editing books, blogs, product brochures, papers, web content, and much more. I work with native and non-native English speakers. I write for pleasure and for a living; often the line between the two blurs.

Basic proofreading and editing

  • Check for punctuation, grammar, spelling and style mistakes

  • Ensure usage and style consistency

  • Highlight overused words and phrases

  • Identify clichés (these may be OK!)

  • Suggest opportunities to improve clarity

  • Recommend readability improvements, often through word choice and sentence structure

Advanced editing

  • Triangulated fact checking

  • Plagiarism check (I use an online service for this)

  • Content organization, pacing and flow assessment

  • In-depth re-writes

I can adapt to your writing style or impose my style at your preference. I do all my own work, making use of multiple online tools as a final review step.

Costs

Basic proofreading is $.02/word, with a $20.00 minimum charge.

For more in-depth work, I edit iteratively and collaboratively; pricing starts at $.04/word depending on the source material. I can provide a free quote from a writing sample.

I invite inquiries about larger projects, non-profit discounts, and compelling pro bono opportunities.

Ghostwriting

I have experience writing high-quality articles and blogs on many topics; technology, politics, cannabis, travel, and personal experiences are examples. If you have rough content and would like to see it come to life, I may be able to help. Let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll let you know whether it’s something I can excel at. (While I enjoy reading fiction, I won’t accept your great American novel manuscript.)
